I think the first thing we appreciated is how thorough RT solar where compared to some competitors. As part of our process in to looking to get Solar we also contacted a couple of well-known energy companies to get quotes from them for Solar, battery and an EV Charger, the most striking thing was the lack of site visit (one even had a google maps image of someone else’s roof if their quote!). As we had an aging consumer box (wire fuses) we were aware that a significant change to our power system needed to be done safely, however both the big energy companies solution was to just bypass our consumer box by adding a second consumer box for the Solar and EV!! When we contacted RT Solar the first thing they wanted to do is organise an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) to ensure that introducing a PV system that could generate up to 6kwh and a EV Charger that will pull 7kwh it wouldn’t cause a risk to our electrical system and home. This instantly gave us the reassurance that the job was going to be done properly and that any solution would be bespoke to our needs and property rather than an ‘off the shelf’ solution the big energy companies wanted to push on us. Overall we found the design process easy and felt like they listened to what we wanted and built something that was truly a collaboration and met all needs and wants. The installation was done over three days and considering the amount of work that was needed to be done the impact wasn’t as bad as I was worried it may have been. All the of their staff where professional and friendly, one of the things I liked is they would come and check with you about smaller details rather then just assuming and just placing things where they thought best. Overall we are really happy with our installation (11 PV panels, Fox ess Evo10 and Fox ess EV charger) more so as for the past 11 days we haven’t needed to use anything from the grid!! And with the Battery during the long dark winder days we can change it overnight on the cheep rate and then use it during the day.

What to say? I am now the proud owner of a very competitively priced Solar PV and Battery System expertly installed by RTSolar which is comprised of twelve Hengdian DM450M10RT-B54HBT/HST 450W solar panels, ten mounted on the roof of our house and another two on our garage roof, all connected to a 5kWh FoxESS H1-5.0-E-G2-WL inverter and FoxESS EP12 11.5kWh battery both fitted to one of the internal walls in our garage. That crucial question - buyer's regret? Not a bit of it - I couldn't be more happy, both with the system and the level of support and guidance I have received from RTSolar and the team. So how did all this come about? Last year, EoN, our energy supplier, was offering existing and new customers cheap deals for solar PV installs. So I asked what they might quote for a Solar PV installation on our house. Our roof faces WSW on one side and ENE on the other. So my initial request was for EoN to provide a quote for the ENE side. EoN specified an array of 10 x 350 Solar panels mounted on the ENE facing side of our roof with options for Solar only or Solar and Battery system. Both cases seemed to offer a better return, in terms of a reduction in the cost of our electricity bills, than what my bank was providing in net interest on a savings account. However, when examining the quoted system specification provided by EoN it became clear, on reflection, that the ENE side can suffer from some significant shading issues due to the juxtaposition of the house next door. Also, I checked with a neighbour who had had his Solar PV installed on the WSW side (by British Gas last year, 2025). He seemed very happy with his so, given that and my wife's insistence that the WSW facing side gets the most all year round Sunlight I had a rethink and decided it would be more prudent to ask EoN if they could quote for the WSW side and, ... they refused, on account of what they claimed to be the impossibility of erecting the scaffolding that side. Which is fair because half of that side is taken up by a conservatory and the remainder with a substantial awning, not easy. Go figure... OK, I'm not the luckiest person on this planet - the lottery has never worked for me - so imagine my surprise at finding a local installer ready and able to tackle this seemingly impossible mission. Enter Tom Cruise and his team, er, ... Peter Baker and the RTSolar team. Following our initial contact Peter and his colleague carried out an exploratory survey to assess feasibility which included using a drone to obtain an overhead view and that was followed by by RTSolar's chosen scaffolding supplier doing their own survey to confirm that it was indeed feasible to erect the needed scaffolding given the circumstances. MCS certification and guidance requirements demand that all installers comply with their guidance and an MCS certification is only issued to those companies who can demonstrate strict compliance with the guidance. So, as you might imagine, RTSolar are very keen to ensure that they don't step out of line with the MCS guidelines. The result being that they are continually checking that they get it right and not just do the install and head for the hills. Thus, it became clear, following the erection of the scaffolding and RTSolar's roofer carrying out some very precise measurements of the dimensions of our roof that, due to this demand for compliance it would not be possible to fit all 12 of the originally specified panels in the space available while still complying with the guidelines. It was Corporal Jones time (Dad's Army). Don't PANIC! Only 10 of the panels could be fitted in compliance with MCS guidelines but RTSolar's roofer was able to check the dimensions of our garage roof and offer the option of fitting the remaining 2 panels to the garage roof thus ensuring compliance with the originally specified 5.4kWh system design. An additional bonus was that Peter, after performing a further check on the system design, was able to offer a reasonably priced and much higher capacity alternative to the battery originally specified.

I purchased my solar panels in 2022. Quality and hassle free installation. Everybody from start to finish were friendly, knowledgeable and explained how everything worked. My system generates more than what was predicted. My system generates so much that it offsets all of my gas and electricity bill for the whole year and I have export credit left over! Best Investment Ever!

I had an air source heat pump installed by RT Solar. It was an ordeal and I do not recommend them. They are clearly primarily an installer of solar panels, on which I cannot comment. Air source heat pumps, however, are complex systems, for which RT Solar (and probably many other suppliers out there) do not have the skills and capabilities, so please do yourself a favour and find a heating engineer, not ordinary plumbers. Please do not engage RT Solar to install an air source heat pump.

Worked with RT Solar for a while now and they’re a great company to with work. The office staff and the guys on the ground are a fantastic bunch of people. Very professional, hard working and very reliable. I would highly recommend RT Solar to anybody needing their services. 5⭐️

Recently had Solar panels and battery installed by RT. From the initial contact and survey of our property right through to the installation and commissioning I cannot imagine a more professional company. Everything happened as planned. Sandy coordinated the work and phoned with regular updates, Rob did a great job of installing the panels and Dan made everything work with the installation of the batteries and inverter. Highly recommended.
